Infrastructure Architect

Core Responsibility
·         Working with the Systems Architect, the infrastructure Architect is responsible for the design and a successful Migration of Direct Marketing (DM) System onto a new MVS platform (Z10)
·         The primary objectives of this position are:
1.      Planning, design and migration of the existing application from MVS Z09 to new MVS Z10
2.      Working closely with external vendors to provide a new hosting facility for the new application.
3.      Planning, design and implementation support for Disaster recovery plan (DRP) for the new platform.
4.      Planning, design and setup of Z10 into multiple Linux partitioning using IFL (Integrated Facility for Linux) technology
5.      Working closely with all internal and external teams, the infrastructure Architect will provide technical guidance and leadership in the development, implementation and support activities related to migration and IFL technology setup.
·         As a member of the IT Architecture Group the infrastructure Architect participates in the definition of enterprise wide infrastructure, systems, applications and standards.

Key Functions
·         Participate in the analysis, design, planning and implementation phases of the migration processes as well as DRP.
·         Review and validate internal and external suppliers’ technical proposals.
·         Prepare and maintain high level infrastructure documentation in support for all the migration, design activities and disaster recovery plan.
·         Provide leadership and governance over all infrastructure architecture activities and deliverables within the migration of Z10 and its DRP
·         Ensure all architecture deliverables conform to IT standard including but not limited to: documentation of technology methods, interfaces, physical models, current and target states, implementation options, etc.
·         Contribute to Direct Marketing Hosting Project Planning process (work breakdown structures, work package planning, estimating) as required.
·         Participate in requirements, analysis and design deliverable reviews and walkthroughs
·         Manage hand off of Migration/hosting of the new platform to baseline operations
·         Work with other IT groups, to develop and maintain an infrastructure and system that reduces overall complexity and increased cost efficiency.
·         Provide leadership and direction through technical subject matter expertise.
·         Document Infrastructure architecture environment and procedures to insure infrastructure remains cost effective, efficient, and of high quality.
·         Monitor and analyze performance of the migration/hosting activities and develop strategies for keeping them at peak.
·         Analyse and translate business strategies, plans and requirements into IT principles, directions and standard.
·         Communicate global enterprise architectures and systems and ensures the adherence and the value-added of enterprise methodologies and standards.

Required Skills and Competencies
·         Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science/Computer Engineering with eight to ten years work experience in MVS especially Z10 technology as well as Linux operating on Mainframe using IFL.
·         Develop implementation strategies in collaboration with business unit representatives.
·         Experience as a systems administrator/infrastructure specialist in various environments including MVS. Experience with IFL technology an asset.
·         Project management experience, an asset.
·         Technical understanding of and hands-on experience with Linux especially RedHat.
·         Technical understanding of and hands-on experience with various infrastructure components and systems such as servers, networking devices and services (DNS, DHCP, VPN), Operating systems (such as Linux/Unix, Windows) and Java applications server (such as JBoss, WebLogic Server), infrastructure services (such as web servers, proxy servers, firewall).
·         Good understanding of application development processes and tools, data modelling techniques and application support requirements.
·         Working knowledge of XML, various XML-based standards (XSD, XPATH, etc.).
·         Experience with XML based appliance such as Reactivity XML firewall, an asset.
·         Familiar with current and emerging system integration standards (SOA-related: e.g. WSDL, BPEL, SDO)
·         Experience in infrastructure planning such as LAN, WAN.
·         Understanding of/experience with:
- Processes for the development of large scale infrastructure projects
- Documentation requirement for infrastructure and application development teams.
·         Proficient in the use of MS Office, Visio and Internet browsers.
·         Ability to take a creative approach to problem solving.
·         Experience working within multidisciplinary and collaborative environments.
·         Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
·         Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.
·         Team player with effective interpersonal skills who can work in an autonomous setting.
·         Thorough, detail-oriented and highly organized.
·         Possess strong business and technical vision.
·         Self-motivated, with leadership skills; dedicated with a desire to learn.
·         Bilingual (French and English).
